More than just a place to stay, the Kamungi Bandas are part of a larger strategy for sustainable conservation. Set within Kamungi Conservancy, a vital buffer zone established in 2013 with the support of Tsavo Trust, the bandas turn a night under the Tsavo stars into direct support for community development and wildlife protection.
The bandas are the conservancy’s own enterprise: a model designed so that, as visitor numbers grow, more income flows to Kamungi and its 505 member households, helping the community fund its own development and build lasting self-reliance. Every booking helps that model take root, so the more guests who stay, the greater the benefit to community and conservation.

A rustic but comfortable, fully-staffed eco accommodation, booked exclusively for one group at a time. Four spacious en-suite bedrooms, each with a double and a single bed, comfortably host up to twelve guests around an open-plan lounge, dining space and bar.

The banda sits just 2 km from Tsavo East National Park. Guests must purchase KWS park tickets online through the eCitizen platform and present them at the KWS entry gate on arrival, and to the Kamungi Banda’s Manager each day they plan to enter the park, to ensure compliance.
Where your money goes
All income generated by the facility goes directly to Kamungi Conservancy, with funds managed by the elected Kamungi Board.
Tsavo Trust provides oversight and training for the facility pro bono, as part of our commitment to strengthening the Kamungi Conservancy and building its long-term self-reliance.
